Beyond stillness, murmuring voices (2026) for harpsichord and electronic layer (fixed electronics) is a meditative composition that incorporates elements of improvisation understood as a ‘sound walk’. The piece gradually reveals successive layers of landscape, unfolding over time on the basis of seemingly static sound objects. In this ‘duet’, the harpsichord and the electronic layer assume complementary roles – the harpsichord moves and guides the listener through spaces shaped sonically by electronics. The temporal dimension of the work is determined by the electronic layer; however, within its individual segments, the harpsichord part finds space to resonate and to integrate with the electronics. In compositional practice, many elements can naturally be ‘programmed’, constructed, and thus planned. In Beyond stillness, murmuring voices, we encounter a landscape composed of various elements – sound objects that ‘endure’ in time, allowing the listener to engage in attentive listening.
