While written in the manner of a freely improvised duo, Air is a work that explores elusive moments of light and shadow through sound shapes, using short, quick motives and figures. The violin and piano interweave with each other in intense sequences: at times in free-form or controlled aleatoric notation; at others, in unity and carefully planned harmonic-melodic structures.
