Sea Reflects Silence (2026, for piano and electronics) was born from the idea of placing water — in all its vastness and symbolism — at the heart of a conceptual project that intertwines poetry, music, and visual art. Its unpredictability, immensity, and a silent power became the central axis of this work.

For many years, nocturnal walks along the shores of different seas and oceans inspired me to create an integrated, multi-part narrative exploring water as both a symbol and a state of being — drawing on literary references connected to it, as well as on the idea of solitude experienced while traversing its endless expanses.

Sea Reflects Silence is an electroacoustic composition in the form of a four-part suite, stylistically reaching beyond the boundaries of contemporary classical music by combining influences of improvised, experimental, post-rock, and ambient music.

At the core of its narrative layer are existential themes — references to the multidimensional symbolism of water, the dangers associated with its excess, and the mystery of its depths. The work is also inspired by the motif of travel, particularly by great figures associated with maritime voyages and geographical discoveries. The text accompanying the musical compositions (written by Maciej Papierski) intertwines mythological narratives with literary motifs, as well as real historical biographies.

Cold water, solitude, isolation. The second part explores ambiental textures intertwined with sonoristic piano. A remarkable artist, Matt Harvey – known for his connection with as both a musician and the creator of the band’s visual identity – created a stunning visual story for my solo project, which I’m sharing here.

The whole four-part suite forms a kind of concept album — a story that connects music, improvisation, poetry, and visual works. Maciej Papierski creates a dark yet beautiful work which explores the symbol of water in the context of the Arctic landscape, literature, hidden worlds, oblivion, and relentlessness. It is a slow, creeping repetition of depth gradually drawing the listener in.

The third part dives deeper, beneath the ocean’s surface. It unfolds abstract, rhythmical structures intertwined with synth pads and silent piano chords. A boundless ocean of anger leads us through a foggy, dark landscape of sound into solitude.

The fourth part is oneiric in character, revealing a hidden city submerged beneath a lake — a symbol of the excess of water that washes away the memory of events and places.
